Petrol prices to see substantial drop today: PM Shehbaz
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the government had promised a reduction in oil prices and will now pass on the benefit to the public. He announced that a significant cut in petroleum prices will be made today.
While speaking in the National Assembly, the prime minister said that Pakistan’s name is being respected around the world and the country’s image has improved internationally.
He said he recently spoke with the President of Iran, who repeatedly thanked Pakistan. The Iranian president also said he would visit Pakistan in the future to personally express gratitude to the people.
PM Shehbaz said that three months ago, when conflict broke out, oil prices increased sharply, but after the ceasefire, prices have started coming down quickly. He added that further reductions are expected and the difficult period is ending. He said the government will announce weekly fuel prices today, including a major relief for the public.
The prime minister stressed that national unity is important and said all political parties should remain united for the country’s interest. He thanked the deputy prime minister for his efforts and also praised Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi for his role regarding Iran-related matters.
He also said that the Leader of the Opposition deserved appreciation. PM Shehbaz added that Field Marshal Asim Munir played a key role in the success, saying the focus was not on personal credit but on national benefit.
He further said that the funeral ceremonies of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei will take place on July 3 and 4, and Pakistan has been invited to attend. He said a Pakistani delegation will be sent, adding that both countries will continue to work closely and strengthen cooperation in the future.
