PM Shehbaz Sharif Calls for Modernization of Pakistan’s Livestock Sector

Prime Minister Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif has stressed the need to modernize Pakistan’s livestock sector, saying the country must move beyond discussions and focus on practical implementation to unlock its full agricultural potential. Addressing a national seminar on livestock capacity in Islamabad, he said closer cooperation between the federal and provincial governments would be essential to achieving long-term growth in the sector.
The prime minister said Pakistan has been blessed with abundant natural resources and praised farmers for their continuous contribution to the country’s economy through hard work. He noted that Pakistan ranks as the world’s fourth-largest producer of milk, emphasizing that the country’s livestock industry possesses significant untapped trade and export potential.
Shehbaz Sharif also highlighted the importance of adopting modern technology, saying its lack of availability has caused Pakistan to fall behind other countries in the region in livestock development. He described China as a reliable partner and expressed confidence that stronger cooperation and technological advancement could help transform the sector and boost economic growth.
