A two-day Pakistan-China Pharmaceutical and Healthcare B2B Investment Conference was held in Islamabad with the support of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) to strengthen cooperation in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and healthcare sectors.

More than 300 pharmaceutical companies, Chinese suppliers, investors, and business representatives from Pakistan and China attended the conference.

During the event, Pakistani and Chinese companies signed nine investment agreements worth nearly $440 million for biotechnology and local pharmaceutical production.

Chinese investors said Pakistan offers strong investment opportunities and that economic cooperation between the two countries will continue to grow. They also said there is great potential for more partnerships in research, innovation, and the pharmaceutical sector.

VSOL Group and LDS Pharma CEO Zafar Mahmood said the agreements with Chinese partners will help start local vaccine production in Pakistan and meet the country’s healthcare needs.

Group Managing Director of OBS and CEO of AGP Limited Kamran Nasir welcomed the conference and praised the Ministry of Health, SIFC, and the Drug Regulatory Authority for organizing the event.

He added that SIFC’s key role in supporting deregulation of Pakistan’s growing pharmaceutical sector has further strengthened investor confidence.
