Earthquake Tremors Felt Across Several Areas of Balochistan
Earthquake tremors were felt in Quetta and several other areas of Balochistan, causing fear and panic among residents.
According to the Seismic Monitoring Centre, the earthquake measured 4.0 on the Richter scale. Its epicentre was located about 5 kilometres southwest of Rakhni in Balochistan, while the depth was recorded at 37 kilometres underground.
The tremors were felt in Quetta and several districts across Balochistan. Many residents became frightened by the sudden shaking and came out of their homes and shops, gathering in open areas.
The earthquake was of moderate intensity, but no major damage was reported due to its relatively deep depth. Relevant authorities are monitoring the situation, while district administrations have been placed on alert to deal with any possible emergency.
Rescue teams were also activated in several districts after the earthquake. Initial surveys found no reports of collapsed buildings or damage to infrastructure.
Experts say Balochistan is located in an earthquake-prone region where tectonic plate movements can cause earthquakes from time to time.
Authorities have advised citizens to remain calm and follow safety precautions during earthquakes. People have also been urged to avoid using lifts unnecessarily, check electricity and gas connections, and move to safe locations when needed.
Officials have asked the public not to believe unverified information and to rely only on official authorities and trusted sources for updates. The situation remains normal, and relevant agencies will inform the public of any significant developments.
