Pakistan Army Restores Key Road Link in Gilgit-Baltistan

The Pakistan Army continues to serve the people alongside its duties of defending the country, especially during natural disasters and emergencies.

The Pakistan Army has restored the Gilgit-Jaglot-Skardu Road for all types of traffic by constructing a temporary bridge in record time.

Engineers from the Pakistan Army’s Engineers Corps built the temporary bridge at Sassi Haramosh in just six days after the previous bridge was washed away by heavy rains and floods.

With the completion of the bridge, road connectivity between Skardu, Baltistan, and other parts of Pakistan has been fully restored.

The bridge had been destroyed by strong floodwaters caused by recent heavy rains, completely disrupting traffic on the Baltistan Road. The closure had caused serious difficulties for local residents, travelers, tourists, and cargo vehicles.

Building a temporary bridge amid strong water flows and difficult weather conditions was a major engineering challenge. Officers and soldiers of the Pakistan Army, FCNA, and Engineers Corps worked day and night to complete the project.

The restoration of traffic on the Jaglot-Skardu Road has also helped revive trade activities and the supply of essential goods.

Local residents, tourists, and traders have praised the Pakistan Army for its timely efforts and expressed their gratitude.
