Pakistan, Iran Sign Minutes of 10th Joint Trade Committee Meeting

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Iran have signed the agreed minutes of the 10th Pakistan-Iran Joint Trade Committee meeting, reaffirming their commitment to strengthen trade and economic ties.

Both countries pledged to increase bilateral trade to $10 billion and agreed to finalize a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) at the earliest.

The two sides also made important progress on the FTA, including discussions on trade rules and tariff reductions.

Pakistan and Iran decided to speed up practical steps to increase bilateral trade and further strengthen business-to-business (B2B) relations. They also stressed the need for direct links between their business communities and more exchanges of trade delegations.

Both countries agreed to promote border trade and create more economic opportunities for people living in border areas.

They also agreed to speed up the opening of the Cheedgi-Kohak border market and establish joint committees for the effective management of border markets.

The two sides agreed to expand trade in agricultural and horticultural products and improve transport, logistics, and border connectivity.

The agreements were reached during three days of talks covering trade, investment, and economic cooperation. Technical committees will continue working to ensure the agreed decisions are implemented quickly.
