Will Lahore Metro Bus Service Be Suspended Today?

11 August, 2026 11:39

The Lahore Metro Bus Service will continue operating as normal after the Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMA) and operator company VEDA reached an understanding to avoid a possible shutdown.

The issue arose after VEDA warned that it could stop Metro Bus operations from August 11 because it did not have enough funds to purchase fuel. The company said it had already used its available financial resources and could not continue without fuel support from PMA.

PMA General Manager Operations Uzair Shah said the authority was taking VEDA’s concerns seriously. He said both sides were working to resolve the financial and operational issues.

Uzair Shah assured commuters that there would be no disruption to the Metro Bus service. He said the service would continue while talks between the two sides take place.

Another meeting between VEDA and PMA is scheduled for today, with officials hopeful that the remaining issues will be resolved.

VEDA had earlier referred to a July 29 court order directing PMA to arrange fuel from its own resources. The company said its requests for fuel funding were not answered.

During a meeting on August 6, PMA said it needed clear instructions from the Punjab government before taking a decision. VEDA later said it had not received any further solution.

The latest understanding between the two sides has eased concerns among thousands of people who depend on the Lahore Metro Bus for their daily travel.
