Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi Receives Hubert Walter Award 2026 at Lambeth Palace

Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman and National Paigham-e-Peace Committee Coordinator Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi received the Hubert Walter Award for Reconciliation and Interfaith Cooperation 2026 at a ceremony held at the historic Lambeth Palace in London on Friday.

The award was presented by Archbishop of Canterbury Sarah Mullally in recognition of Ashrafi’s decades-long work for peace, reconciliation, moderation, interfaith and sectarian harmony, minority rights and peaceful coexistence.

The award also recognized his efforts against extremism, terrorism and sectarian violence. The Hubert Walter Award is part of the Lambeth Awards and recognizes outstanding contributions to reconciliation and interfaith cooperation.

Ashrafi has worked for many years to promote dialogue and mutual respect among religious communities and support the rights of minorities and vulnerable groups.

He has previously received the OIC Global Peace Award for his services to peace, harmony and cooperation. The two awards are separate international recognitions of his work in promoting peace and interfaith cooperation.

Ashrafi is also a member of the Supreme Council of the Muslim World League, Secretary General of the International Council of Haramain Sharifain and a member of the International Muslim Forum.
