The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has dissolved the national selection committee ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.

A spokesperson for PCB said today that a new selection committee would be be announced soon.

He added that the new selection body would make merit-based independent decisions to select the team.

The earlier selection body was being led by former pacer Wahab Riaz while other members included Wajahatullah Wasti, Tauseef Ahmed and Wasim Haider.

Rao Iftikhar and Kamran Akmal were the consultant members while Hasan Muzaffar Cheema was the body’s manager analyst.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi will address a press conference today to announce the new selection committee.

Wahab Riaz is likely to retain the chief selector’s position. Former all-rounder Abdul Razzaq is likely to be inducted in the committee.

Earlier, according to sources, the PCB had decided to further empower the selection body.

The new selection committee will hire a new coach and choose the captain of the national team, the sources said.
