Politicians are known to issue embarrassing statements and remarks and then say their words were taken out of context.

However, when a country’s prime minister delivers a speech in the parliament there is very little margin for error as eyes of the world on him.

Senior politicians especially a prime minister should be very careful while expressing his views in the parliament.

An interesting situation emerged in the Pakistani parliament on Sunday, when the newly-elected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif committed an error while expressing his views.

“I thank all members who elected me as ‘Leader of Opposition’ by their votes.” In a slip of tongue, Shehbaz uttered ‘Leader of Opposition’ instead of ‘Leader of House’. However, Shehbaz Sharif’s slip of tongue went unnoticed in the house at that moment, but later the social media abuzz with his wrongly uttered remarks.

It is hoped the prime minister, elected second time, will not repeat such mistakes in his future speeches.
