Five iconic Pakistan-India moments

Pakistan and India are set to face off on Sunday in the ICC Champions Trophy at Dubai Cricket Stadium. Over the years, their encounters have produced several intense moments. Here are five of the most controversial incidents in one-day cricket between the two rivals.

During the 1992 World Cup, Indian wicketkeeper Kiran More’s frequent appeals frustrated Pakistan’s Javed Miandad in Sydney. In response, Miandad mimicked More by jumping exaggeratedly.

In the 1996 World Cup quarter-final, Aamer Sohail hit India’s Venkatesh Prasad for a boundary and gestured toward him. Prasad bowled Sohail on the next delivery and responded with an animated send-off.

In 1997, Inzamam-ul-Haq confronted an Indian fan in the stands after being taunted. Security intervened before the situation escalated.

A 2007 ODI saw Gautam Gambhir and Shahid Afridi exchange words and collide mid-pitch. The rivalry continued off-field even after their retirements.

During the Asia Cup, Shoaib Akhtar sledged Harbhajan Singh, who responded with a match-winning six. The two later recreated the moment in a promotional video.
