A female spokeswoman for the US State Department resigned as protest over the Gaza issue.

According to Al-Arabiya’s report, the female spokesperson for the Arabic language at the US State Department has resigned in opposition to the policies of the Joe Biden administration on Gaza.

The report said that Hala Rharrit joined the Foreign Service as a Political Officer in 2006 and has also served as Deputy Director of Dubai Regional Media.

In a social media post, the female spokeswoman said that she is resigning after 18 years of service over the US policy on Gaza.

She emphasized on diplomacy instead of weapons for peace and stability in Gaza.

The resignation of the spokeswoman is a new series amid unconditional support from the US to Israel in the ongoing bloodshed in Gaza.

Previously, Josh Paul, the director of the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs in the US State Department, resigned in October last year, in which he expressed his displeasure with the decision of the US to supply weapons to Israel during the Gaza war.

Meanwhile, the ongoing pro-Palestinian protests at the American universities have spread to the Europe.

Dozens of students protested outside the Sorbonne University in Paris, while the French president, who came to speak at the university, was also demanded for help for the Palestinians.

Meanwhile, students in New York waved the Palestinian flags along with the American flags. Protests also took place at the City University of New York and UT Austin campuses.

Apart from this, protest camps have been established in favour of the oppressed Palestinians at Harvard University and Northwestern University in Illinois.

Police and students clashed over the removal of a protest camp at Emerson College in Boston, in which more than 100 students were arrested. Hasan Syed, a PhD final year student at Preston University, was arrested.

Noelle McAfee, chairperson of the philosophy department of Emory University in Atlanta, was also arrested.
