World’s first race between humanoid robots and humans to be held in April

China is going to hold the world’s first race between humanoid robots and humans in the month of April.
The race will be approximately 21 kilometers long and will be held in the economic and technological development area of Beijing’s industrial district Daxing, also known as E-Town.
Robotics components, machines and related applications are manufactured in this e-town with more than 100 companies. They provide about 50 per cent of the city’s output of about 10 billion yuan.
Around 12,000 humans and humanoid robots can participate in the race, with prizes awarded to the top three runners.
Companies, research institutes, robotics clubs and international universities have been invited to field their humanoid athletes in the marathon, district officials said.
