British actress Aimee Lou Wood, known for her performance in The White Lotus, has finally addressed the viral photographs showing her visibly emotional on the streets of South London. The images, which quickly spread across social media, captured Aimee in tears while being consoled by fellow actor Ralph Davis.

The public was quick to speculate on the reason behind her distress, with many assuming her emotional state was connected to a recent Saturday Night Live (SNL) sketch. The parody featured an exaggerated version of Aimee’s character “Chelsea,” drawing criticism for its portrayal, including the use of an over-the-top accent and artificial teeth.

However, Aimee took to Instagram to clarify the situation, denying that the viral photos had any connection to the SNL skit. Reposting a message that read, “Absolutely devastating to see another brilliant and talented actress reduced to tears because of people tearing into their appearance” She responded:

“Thank you so much. Just to say, I actually wasn’t crying about anything that the papers made out I was crying about. Something completely unrelated,” she wrote.

Days before her statement, the SNL sketch had drawn mixed reactions online. Addressing the portrayal, Aimee commented,

“Such a shame, cuz I had such a great time watching it a couple of weeks ago. Yes, take the piss for sure – that’s what the show is about- but there must be a cleverer, more nuanced, less cheap way?” she wrote.

She also criticized the impersonation’s accuracy, saying, “At least get the accent right, seriously. I respect accuracy even if it means.”
