Russian-American YouTuber and prankster Vitaly Zdorovetskiy, known for storming the 2014 FIFA World Cup final, is now facing potentially his most serious legal challenge yet. The 33-year-old was arrested on April 2 in Bonifacio Global City, Philippines, following a controversial Kick livestream in which he allegedly harassed members of the public and security personnel.
Authorities accuse Zdorovetskiy of inappropriate behavior, including attempting to kiss and grab a guard, seizing a firearm, and vlogging without a permit. Philippines Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla publicly denounced the YouTuber’s actions, stating: “People have to take responsibility for the content they create. There will be no special treatment.”
Currently held at Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Vitaly could remain in custody for two to three years before trial. If convicted, he may face up to 24 years behind bars, according to reports from fellow YouTuber Atozy.
Vitaly, who moved to the US from Russia at age 14, rose to internet fame through extreme pranks and public stunts, including streaking across the pitch during Germany’s 1-0 win over Argentina in the 2014 World Cup final. Over the years, he’s faced legal trouble in several countries, including Egypt and the US, but this latest incident could have the most severe consequences yet.
