Izzy Armitage, Hannah Dal Sasso held at gunpoint by police during Coachella: Australian influencers reveal

17 April, 2025 16:29

Two Australian influencers, Izzy Armitage (24) and Hannah Dal Sasso (28), have shared their terrifying experience of being held at gunpoint by armed police in Los Angeles before being kicked out of their Airbnb. The Melbourne-based influencers took to TikTok to recount the harrowing incident, which occurred early Wednesday morning.

In their videos, the women described how they were abruptly woken up to police officers banging on their door and raiding their apartment. “We’ve just had our Airbnb’s door basically kicked in with [guns] in [Ms. Dal Sasso’s] face,” Ms. Armitage said in one of the videos. Ms. Dal Sasso added, “Some random dude came into my room just screaming in a full sheriff outfit… with a freaking gun at me while I’m asleep. I woke up to it and didn’t understand what was going on. He just kept screaming ‘get up, get up’.”

At first, Izzy Armitage thought the sudden raid was a dream, as she was in a different room. The officers aggressively questioned the women, repeatedly asking if anyone else was in the apartment. They were informed that the apartment had been rented out illegally, and the influencers were given just ten minutes to gather their belongings and leave.

The two women were left shaken and unsettled, feeling that they received minimal information or apology from the officers. “We didn’t understand why they needed to respond forcefully with guns in our faces,” Ms. Dal Sasso said, expressing their confusion over the heavy-handed response.

The pair, who had been in California for Coachella, also revealed that they were dissatisfied with the state of the Airbnb. Upon arrival, they found stained sheets, used towels, and open condom wrappers in the apartment. Though cleaners were scheduled to service the apartment while they were out, the space remained dirty upon their return.

Following the police incident, the duo speculated that the illegal rental might explain the lack of professional cleaning services. After the ordeal, they checked into a hotel and assured their followers that they were safe.

In the aftermath, Ms. Dal Sasso shared with her 69,000 TikTok followers that the experience had left her with “trauma” from the shocking encounter.
