DeShawn Leeth Steals Police Cruiser After Threatening Officer – Dies in High-Speed Chase

Disturbing new footage has surfaced showing the final moments of DeShawn Leeth, a 30-year-old Ohio man who sparked a high-speed police chase after threatening a state trooper and stealing a patrol vehicle. The incident took place on April 4 along the Ohio Turnpike.

Leeth, a man with a troubled past and a self-proclaimed mission to inspire change through his non-profit, was stopped by authorities following an unrelated crash. Bodycam footage released by the Ohio State Highway Patrol shows Leeth, appearing injured and holding a makeshift bandage to his head, growing increasingly agitated as he approached an officer.

When asked to put his hands behind his back, Leeth responded with hostility, warning: “Next time you touch me, you gonna die.” Moments later, he ran from the officer, then abruptly turned and charged, prompting the trooper to deploy a stun gun.

Leeth engaged in a physical altercation, throwing punches and claiming he was stronger than the officer. Bystanders attempted to intervene, but Leeth ultimately managed to commandeer the police cruiser and flee the scene.

The ensuing chase lasted approximately 11 minutes as Leeth sped toward the Pennsylvania state line. The pursuit ended in tragedy when he lost control of the vehicle, which flipped off the turnpike. He was fatally shot by officers following the crash.

Leeth’s history includes a prison sentence at age 18 following a home invasion conviction. In later interviews, he spoke candidly about his unstable upbringing and his mother’s battle with addiction, describing himself as the “loneliest person” while behind bars. He served two prison terms from 2012 to 2015 and again later, but said he experienced a shift in perspective during his second incarceration.

Upon release, Leeth founded Underdawg Nation, a non-profit organization aimed at steering at-risk youth away from violence and crime. His family described him as a man of deep faith and commitment to helping others, stating, “He lived every day with a heart to serve, always ready to uplift, inspire, and create change.”
