Kara Hernandez Investigation: Married Teacher’s Alleged Relationship with a Student

A Texas middle school teacher has been arrested and charged after a former student accused her of engaging in an inappropriate s*xual relationship when they were under the age of 13.

Kara Hernandez, 32, an orchestra teacher at Ronald Thornton Middle School in Sienna, Texas, was taken into custody on February 14 on charges of indecency with a child and an improper educator-student relationship. According to court documents, the alleged ab*se occurred around April 2022, but the accusations only surfaced recently when the victim reported it to authorities.

Hernandez, a married mother of four, resigned from her position in September 2024 after the Fort Bend Independent School District (FBISD) launched an internal investigation. The district confirmed she would not return regardless of the legal outcome.

In a statement, FBISD said:
“The district took action immediately after allegations came to light. The staff member was removed from campus and later resigned in place of termination.”

Before her arrest, Hernandez was described as a dedicated educator who aimed to provide an “exceptional music education” for students. Her school bio highlighted her passion for teaching and her love of spending time outdoors with her family, including supporting the Houston Astros with her husband and children.

Hernandez was indicted by a grand jury and faces two felony charges. Her bond was set at **$50,000\ast \ast ($25,000 per charge). She is scheduled to appear in court on April 28.
