Young girl dies after attempting viral deodorant challenge

deodorant challenge girl death
An eight-year-old girl, Sarah Raissa, tragically died after reportedly attempting a dangerous online trend known as the “deodorant challenge.”
Sarah was found unconscious on April 10 at her family’s home near Brasilia. She had a phone and a can of spray deodorant beside her. Her grandfather made the heartbreaking discovery and noticed her fingers and lips had turned purple.
She was rushed to Ceilândia Regional Hospital, where doctors tried to save her. Sadly, she passed away three days later.
Police are now investigating the case. They revealed the pillow Sarah was lying on was soaked in deodorant spray. The trend she may have followed involves spraying deodorant on the skin or inhaling it, which can be extremely harmful and even deadly.
Sarah’s father, Cassio Maurílio, said he believes his daughter saw a video of the challenge online. He warned that these trends are very dangerous and can quickly get out of control.
Her mother, Maria Fabiana, shared her grief: “I left her ready for school that morning. The last memory I have is of her smiling and healthy.” She added that her older daughter, 13, is devastated by the loss of her younger sister.
The family hopes to raise awareness about the dangers of viral internet challenges and prevent other children from suffering the same fate.
