Stan and Roma Rickman Found Dead in House Fire: 16-Year-Old Boy Arrested in Connection

Stan and Roma Rickman, an elderly couple aged 91 and 88 respectively, were tragically found dead in their home following a fire in the early hours of Monday, April 14. The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service responded to the blaze around 4 a.m. on Heron Close in Alton, but unfortunately, both were pronounced dead at the scene.

A 16-year-old boy from Alton was arrested in connection with the fire but has since been released on bail with conditions. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths of Stan and Roma Rickman.

The Rickman family issued a heartfelt statement thanking the public for their support: “The family would like to thank everyone who has left flowers and kind messages but please respect our privacy at this difficult time.”

Police are asking anyone with information to come forward, particularly those who may have seen any suspicious activity around Heron Close between midnight and 5 a.m. on the night of the fire. They are also urging people with CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage from these hours to contact them.

Detective Superintendent Danielle Daltrey, leading the investigation, reassured residents, saying, “This is a tragic incident that will undoubtedly cause concern for local residents in Alton. We want people to remain reassured that we are investigating this incident as an absolute priority. Officers have been working to follow up every available line of enquiry, including reviewing CCTV, and speaking to anyone who has information that could assist us.”
