Shelley Feeney, Mum of Two, Killed in Car Accident Close to Home
A young mother from Northern Ireland has died days after a car crash, just one day before her fatherβs sudden death. The heartbreaking double tragedy has left a small community in deep sorrow.
Shelley Feeney, a woman in her 30s, was seriously injured in a single-car crash onΒ Monday, April 14. The accident happened aroundΒ 10:30 amΒ onΒ Knockmore RoadΒ inΒ Ballymoney, County Antrim.
Shelley fought for her life in the hospital for nearly a week but sadly passed away onΒ Saturday, April 20. A child was also hurt in the crash, but their condition has not been shared.
Just one day after Shelleyβs crash, her father,Β James, died suddenly onΒ April 15. The family is now grieving two losses in less than a week.
Shelley was aΒ “much loved”Β mother to her two children,Β Jake and Sophie, and theΒ partner of Stephen. She also worked as aΒ classroom assistantΒ atΒ Bushvalley Primary School, where she was deeply cherished.
The school shared an emotional statement, saying:
“Shelley was not only a highly valued member of our team but also a dear friend. Our hearts go out to her family during this painful time.”
The tight-knit town ofΒ Ballymoney (population 11,000)Β has been left in shock. AΒ GoFundMeΒ page set up byΒ Mosside Presbyterian ChurchΒ raised overΒ Β£22,000Β to help the family with hospital visits and funeral costs.
One donor,Β Gillian, wrote: “Money canβt heal this pain, but I hope it helps the family create new memories while honoring those theyβve lost.”
Shelleyβs funeral will be held onΒ WednesdayΒ inΒ Ballymoney.
Reverend Andre Alves-Areias shared: “The community is heartbroken, but everyone is coming together to support the family in this unimaginable time.”
