Shelley Feeney, Mum of Two, Killed in Car Accident Close to Home
A young mother from Northern Ireland has died days after a car crash, just one day before her father’s sudden death. The heartbreaking double tragedy has left a small community in deep sorrow.
Shelley Feeney, a woman in her 30s, was seriously injured in a single-car crash on Monday, April 14. The accident happened around 10:30 am on Knockmore Road in Ballymoney, County Antrim.
Shelley fought for her life in the hospital for nearly a week but sadly passed away on Saturday, April 20. A child was also hurt in the crash, but their condition has not been shared.
Just one day after Shelley’s crash, her father, James, died suddenly on April 15. The family is now grieving two losses in less than a week.
Shelley was a “much loved” mother to her two children, Jake and Sophie, and the partner of Stephen. She also worked as a classroom assistant at Bushvalley Primary School, where she was deeply cherished.
The school shared an emotional statement, saying:
“Shelley was not only a highly valued member of our team but also a dear friend. Our hearts go out to her family during this painful time.”
The tight-knit town of Ballymoney (population 11,000) has been left in shock. A GoFundMe page set up by Mosside Presbyterian Church raised over £22,000 to help the family with hospital visits and funeral costs.
One donor, Gillian, wrote: “Money can’t heal this pain, but I hope it helps the family create new memories while honoring those they’ve lost.”
Shelley’s funeral will be held on Wednesday in Ballymoney.
Reverend Andre Alves-Areias shared: “The community is heartbroken, but everyone is coming together to support the family in this unimaginable time.”
