Russian Airstrikes Trigger NATO Fighter Jet Emergency Scramble – Details Inside

NATO Fighter Jets Scrambled After Russian Long-Range Attacks
Poland has raised its military alert level and scrambled fighter jets after Russia launched long-range missile strikes in western Ukraine.
According to Poland’s Armed Forces Operational Command, the country’s air defense and radar systems were brought to their “highest state of readiness” in response to the threat near its eastern border.
The military statement was posted on X (formerly Twitter) early Thursday morning. It confirmed that Poland was not acting alone. Allied air forces also joined the operation, patrolling Polish airspace near the Ukrainian border to enhance surveillance and readiness.
“The steps taken are aimed at ensuring safety in areas bordering the threatened areas,” the post read.
The Operational Command emphasized that its forces are fully prepared to respond at any moment. While the specific details of Russia’s missile activity in Ukraine remain unclear, Poland’s swift military response reflects growing regional tensions due to the ongoing war in Ukraine.
This is not the first time Poland, a NATO member, has acted quickly in response to military activity just across its border. Over the past two years, Poland has strengthened its eastern defenses amid repeated Russian attacks near the Ukrainian-Polish frontier. This recent escalation, however, appears to be one of the most serious incidents yet to prompt a large-scale readiness alert.
The situation is developing, and more information is expected to be released by both Polish and NATO officials throughout the day.
