April 25, 2025 – A police aircraft crashed into the sea near Hua Hin, Thailand, killing at least five people. The accident happened early in the morning, just after 8:00 AM local time.
The plane was on a test flight to prepare for parachute training. It belonged to the Royal Thai Police. The aircraft was a Viking DHC-6 Twin Otter, a twin-engine propeller plane.
The Moment of the Crash
The tragic crash was caught on video. The footage shows the plane suddenly nosediving into the sea. The aircraft went down just over 300 feet off the shoreline near Hua Hin Airport.
Photos and videos show parts of the wreckage floating on the surface of the water. The crash happened so quickly that bystanders could do little to help.
Only One Survivor
There were a total of six police officers on board. According to Archayon Kraithong, the spokesperson for the Royal Thai Police, only one person survived the crash.
“The plane was being used for training and testing. All passengers were police officers,” Archayon said. He added that the cause of the crash is still unknown.
The surviving officer was taken to the hospital for emergency care. His condition has not yet been made public.
Witnesses Were Shocked
The crash happened in front of several eyewitnesses. Tourists staying at The Baby Grand Hua Hin Hotel were watching when the plane suddenly plunged into the water.
One guest, Isara Supasa, said, “I was shocked and ran onto the beach. There was no sign of life coming from the plane.”
Rescue and Investigation
Emergency teams responded quickly. Police boats and rescue workers rushed to the scene. Divers were sent to search the wreckage. The plane’s black box and other evidence are now being collected to find out what went wrong.
Authorities said that weather conditions at the time were stable. There were no strong winds or storms.
The police said that full details will be released once the investigation is complete. For now, they are focused on supporting the families of the victims and caring for the lone survivor.
Other Recent Crash in Asia
This tragic accident comes just weeks after another crash in Asia. In Japan, a medical helicopter fell into the sea while carrying a patient. That accident killed three people. The coast guard was able to rescue three survivors who were found clinging to inflatable life vests.
In both accidents, the causes are still under investigation.
