Jeff Duffield found dead on Benidorm beach
A British man who was found dead on a beach in Benidorm has been identified as Jeff Duffield. His body was discovered along the Spanish resort’s shore on Wednesday night.
One of Jeff’s family members announced his death in a Facebook group. They wrote: “We have unfortunately found out that Jeff has passed away. Thank you for all your lovely comments and please allow my mam the privacy she deserves. Not the usual happy post I imagine this group is used to so I apologise.”
A friend also posted a tribute: “Very sad news today to hear about the passing of a top lad and dedicated family man and old friend Jeff Duffield.”
Before Jeff’s body was found, his wife had posted on social media asking for help to find him. She wrote: “My husband Jeff Duffield has been missing in Benidorm since 12.30 23/04/2025. I’ve reported it to police if anyone sees him please could you contact me, I’m worried sick. Thank you.”
Spain’s National Police said on Thursday that they had found a body on the beach without any ID on it the previous night. A police spokesperson said: “We can confirm that a body was found on a beach in Benidorm last night. The individual has not been identified as there was no ID on his person.”
According to The Sun, a police source mentioned that there was no sign that the death was suspicious or related to a crime.
Jeff Duffield’s death happens during a time when there’s been a rise in crime and gang activity along the Costa Blanca. Police have warned tourists to stay alert as criminals often target holidaymakers.
Last May, police arrested two men who were allegedly caught robbing a British tourist in Benidorm using a martial arts stranglehold.
One street in Benidorm has even earned the nickname “Muggers Alley” because of the high number of ambushes happening there.
There have been other tragic incidents too, like a British woman who was gang-raped by three men in 2023 — they were later convicted.
Also, a father of two from Belfast, John George, was killed in the region in December last year. Jonny Smyth was arrested in Portugal last month in connection to his death.
