Who was Virginia Giuffre? Jeffrey Epstein and Prince Andrew accuser dies

26 April, 2025 14:22

Virginia Giuffre, widely known for accusing Prince Andrew of sexual assault — claims he has continuously denied — has been found dead at her home in Australia at the age of 41.

Her family confirmed the heartbreaking news on Saturday, revealing that Virginia died by suicide after battling the lasting trauma of being a “lifelong victim of sexual abuse and sex trafficking.”

In an emotional statement, her loved ones honored her memory, saying, “Virginia was a fierce warrior in the fight against sexual abuse and sex trafficking. She was the light that lifted so many survivors. Sadly, the toll of her past became too heavy for her to bear.”

They recalled how her fight for justice began: “When she held her newborn daughter, Virginia realized she had to stand up against those who had harmed her and countless others.” Her family added, “There are no words to express the grave loss we feel today. Virginia’s courage and loving spirit will never be forgotten.”

Virginia’s accusations against Prince Andrew gained global attention in 2021 when she sued him, claiming she was trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein and forced into sexual encounters with the Duke at age 17. Prince Andrew denied all allegations and faced no criminal charges. In 2022, the lawsuit ended in a private settlement, with Andrew making a “substantial donation” to Giuffre’s charity, while maintaining his denials.

Following the settlement, Giuffre became an outspoken advocate for victims’ rights, emerging as a prominent voice in the Me Too movement.

Recently, Giuffre had been living on a farm near North Perth with her family. However, uncertainty surrounded her relationship status with her husband, Robert, as she posted distressing updates on Instagram. Last month, she shared heartbreaking photos of her children — Christian, Noah, and Emily — suggesting they had been taken from her.

“I miss them so very much. I have been through hell and back in my 41 years, but this hurts worse than anything else,” she wrote.

In her final social media post dated March 30, Virginia shared images from a hospital bed after reportedly being struck by a bus, showing visible bruises.

“My heart is shattered, and with each passing day, my sadness deepens,” she wrote in what would be one of her last public messages.

Virginia Giuffre’s death has left an irreplaceable void in the fight for justice for survivors around the world.
