British Boxer Arrested After Brutal Assault on Taxi Driver in Turkey

30 April, 2025 16:45

A British boxer has been arrested in Turkey after a horrifying assault on a local taxi driver was caught on dashcam, showing a violent and seemingly unprovoked attack.

The disturbing footage, dated April 25 and captured in Eyüpsultan, shows Ross Kitchen, a British national, launching a frenzied assault from the back seat of a taxi driven by 56-year-old Kadir Biçer. In the clip, Kitchen is seen reaching forward to grab Biçer before jumping into the front seat and proceeding to gouge the driver’s eyes, choke him, and even attempt to bite off his nose.

Despite being under attack, Biçer struggled to keep control of the moving vehicle, managing to steer through fast-moving traffic while defending himself. He eventually pulled the vehicle over, but the fight continued on the side of the road, where Kitchen reportedly dragged and threw the cabbie across the tarmac.

Witnesses say another taxi driver found Biçer unconscious and severely injured after the incident. Emergency services arrived quickly, and Biçer was rushed to hospital, where he was placed in a coma. He remains in intensive care with serious injuries, including facial bruising and suspected fractures. His family described his face as “completely shattered.”

Turkish police later arrested Kitchen, who admitted during questioning that he is a boxer. While the exact motive is still unclear, authorities believe the altercation may have stemmed from a dispute over the taxi fare.

Kitchen has been remanded in custody as the investigation continues, and he awaits trial in Turkey.
