Trump’s Fiery Interview with Terry Moran Sparks Headlines

30 April, 2025 18:43

In a tense and confrontational interview marking his 100th day back in the White House, former President Donald Trump clashed sharply with ABC News journalist Terry Moran — delivering a series of blunt rebukes and calling the reporter’s credibility into question.

The sit-down, which aired on ABC, began with Trump’s pointed comment: “I picked you to do the interview because frankly, I’d never heard of you,” suggesting Moran was given the opportunity because he posed no threat. The former Nightline anchor, however, challenged Trump on several fronts — triggering a heated back-and-forth on everything from gang violence to global policy.

The conversation turned especially combative when Moran raised questions about Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a deported El Salvadoran whom Trump labeled as a member of the violent MS-13 gang. When Moran questioned the authenticity of a photo used to support the claim, Trump snapped: “Don’t do that. You can’t do that… They’re giving you the big break of a lifetime.” He doubled down on the claim, stating, “He had MS as clear as you can be… This is why people no longer believe the news.”

Attempts to steer the discussion toward Ukraine prompted more pushback. When asked about Vladimir Putin, Trump fired back, “Because of me, he’s not going to take over Ukraine… You start hitting me with fake questions.”

The interview also touched on Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. When Moran asked if Trump had full confidence in him, the former president responded curtly: “It’s a stupid question… I don’t have a hundred percent confidence in anything.”

Even when Moran tried to lighten the mood, Trump stayed stern, later defending controversial economic decisions such as sweeping tariffs. “It’s a transition period,” he said. “We have to fix it.”

The interview wrapped with visible tension. Trump, slamming the media’s credibility again, stated: “ABC is one of the worst.” Moran replied diplomatically: “Thank you for the opinion. But more importantly, thank you for having us here.”

The moment ended with an icy exchange of formalities — a fitting end to an interview that was anything but routine.
