Government announces Eid ul Adha holidays?

02 May, 2025 14:49

Islamabad (May 2, 2025) – The government of Pakistan has announced three public holidays for Eid ul Adha 2025. The holidays will be from Saturday, June 7 to Monday, June 9. These holidays are mentioned in the official list issued by the federal government.

However, the final dates of Eid holidays will be confirmed after the Zul-Hijj moon sighting. The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will make the final decision. They will observe the moon before announcing the exact date of Eid ul Adha. Until then, these dates are expected but not final.

Eid ul Adha is one of the two most important Islamic festivals. It is celebrated on the 10th of Zul-Hijj, the last month of the Islamic calendar. This festival is also called the Festival of Sacrifice. It honors the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to sacrifice his son for Allah’s command.

Muslims around the world celebrate this day with great respect. They sacrifice animals like goats, cows, sheep, and camels. The meat is then divided into three parts. One part is kept for the family, the second is given to relatives and friends, and the third is distributed to the poor and needy.

The act of sacrifice shows the spirit of obedience, selflessness, and generosity. It also reminds Muslims of the importance of helping others. Sharing meat with the poor brings unity and love in society.

In Pakistan, Eid ul Adha is a time of joy and gatherings. Families visit each other and celebrate together. The holidays give people a chance to spend time with their loved ones. It also helps people perform religious duties in peace.

Government offices, schools, and colleges will stay closed during these three days. This will allow both employees and students to enjoy the festival without work stress. Hospitals will only provide emergency services, as most staff will also be on holiday.

The government has also requested citizens to take care of cleanliness during the Eid days. Local city administrations will work to manage waste from sacrificed animals. People are advised to follow rules for animal sacrifice and use official dumping points.

Security arrangements will also be made to ensure safety during the holidays. Police and law enforcement agencies will be on high alert. Special teams will monitor crowded areas and Eid prayers.

Travelers are advised to plan early. Many people return to their hometowns during Eid. Due to this, trains and buses may get overcrowded. Booking tickets early is important to avoid problems.

Citizens are waiting for the moon sighting announcement. The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet soon to observe the Zul-Hijj moon. Once the moon is sighted, the exact date of Eid will be confirmed, and holidays will be officially declared.

For now, people can prepare for Eid while waiting for the final announcement.
