Brazilian F1 Superfan Amanda Borges da Silva Found Dead in Tokyo Hotel
Amanda Borges da Silva, 30, had travelled to Japan from Brazil in order to watch the Grand Prix
A 30-year-old Formula One superfan, Amanda Borges da Silva, was found dead in a hotel near Narita Airport in Tokyo, Japan—just hours before she was set to fly home to Brazil.
Amanda, a popular Brazilian influencer and F1 enthusiast, had traveled to Japan to watch the Japanese Grand Prix last month. She had planned to return home on Thursday evening after spending several weeks abroad since March.
According to reports from Japanese media, Amanda was discovered in a building that caught fire. The fire was put out by emergency crews, but her body was found afterward. The exact cause of her death remains unknown at this time.
Authorities have arrested a Sri Lankan man who allegedly left the building without putting out the fire. He is believed to be connected to the incident, though the investigation is still ongoing.
Amanda’s friend, James Fernandes, spoke to Brazilian media and confirmed she had planned to fly back just hours after she died. He said she was found near Narita Airport in the early hours of the morning and was scheduled to leave Japan that same day.
The shocking news of Amanda’s death came as the Formula One world was focused on the Japanese Grand Prix.
Dutch driver Max Verstappen claimed victory at the race, marking his third consecutive win at the Japanese circuit. He overcame an early red-flag delay caused by a crash between Daniel Ricciardo and Alex Albon.
Lando Norris finished second, and Oscar Piastri placed third.
Verstappen praised his team’s strategy, saying the adjustments to his car gave him better control and comfort. He now holds a 13-point lead over his Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez in the drivers’ standings.
