Who is Nakscije Miftari? Ex-Girlfriend of Madeleine McCann Suspect Speaks Out
Who is Christian Brueckner’s ex-girlfriend Nakscije Miftari and what has she said about the Madeleine McCann case?
A new Channel 4 investigation airing tonight at 9pm reveals chilling claims made by the former girlfriend of Christian Brueckner, the main suspect in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann. Nakscije Miftari, now 29, has shared key details about her abusive relationship with Brueckner and his suspicious comments related to the McCann case.
Who is Nakscije Miftari?
Nakscije Miftari is a German woman of Kosovan origin who dated Brueckner from 2013, when she was just 17 years old. They met in the town of Braunschweig, where Brueckner owned a kiosk. Nakscije described him as “charming and generous” at first, giving her free sweets and calling her a “lady,” a gesture she said she had never experienced before.
Their relationship turned dark after she moved to Portugal with him in 2014. Within a year, Nakscije was deported back to Germany, but not before discovering child pornography on Brueckner’s devices, some featuring him. When she confronted him, he physically assaulted her, knocking her unconscious by pushing her down the stairs.
Nakscije and her mother reported the incident to police. A raid on Brueckner’s flat revealed hundreds of child abuse images and videos, including footage of Brueckner abusing a five-year-old girl, the daughter of a previous partner.
Despite the evidence, Nakscije remained in contact with him briefly as he fled to Portugal. He was later arrested in 2017 and jailed for 15 months for child abuse.
What Did Brueckner Say About Madeleine McCann?
Nakscije’s testimony includes one of the first personal admissions from Brueckner suggesting he was near the Ocean Club resort in Praia da Luz the night Madeleine McCann went missing in 2007. During a 2014 party at their flat in Braunschweig, a guest brought up the McCann case. Brueckner fell silent. After the guests left, Nakscije asked him about it.
He replied: “I know about Maddie. I was near the hotel at the time. I was living in the area. I am not going to say anything more. I am not a stupid guy. I am a businessman.”
Phone records later confirmed Brueckner’s phone pinged near the resort on the night of Madeleine’s disappearance.
Brueckner continues to deny any involvement and has refused to speak to investigators. He is currently serving a seven-and-a-half-year sentence for the r*pe of a 72-year-old American woman in 2005, also in Praia da Luz.
Nakscije Today
Now trying to rebuild her life, Nakscije has cut all ties with Brueckner. She said: “I have no feelings anymore for Christian. I always hoped what I heard wasn’t true—even today.”
