Woman, 80, dies after being hit by a Cyclist in Tameside

An 80-year-old woman has died after being hit by a cyclist in Tameside, Manchester. The accident happened on Sunday, May 4, at around 12pm.
The woman was walking near the junction of Mottram Road and Matley Lane in Stalybridge. A man riding a bicycle was overtaking another cyclist when he struck her. He was part of a charity cycling event.
The woman was seriously injured. She was taken to the hospital but sadly died on Wednesday, May 7. Police have not released her name.
The cyclist, who is male, got minor injuries in the crash. He stayed at the scene. So far, no arrests have been made. Police say the investigation is still going on.
Greater Manchester Police shared more details. They said the cyclist was riding behind another bike that was moving slowly. As he tried to pass, he hit the elderly woman.
Officers are now asking the public to help with the investigation. They want to speak to anyone who saw the crash or has any kind of video footage. This includes dashcam, mobile, CCTV, or doorbell cameras from the area.
Police are especially interested in talking to other cyclists who were part of the event. They may have seen what happened or recorded it.
The police are doing everything they can to find out how the accident happened. They hope more people will come forward soon.
