Who is Air Vice Marshal Aurangzeb Ahmed? All About Director General of Public Relations

Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Aurangzeb Ahmed is a senior officer in the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), currently serving as the Director General of Public Relations (DGPR), a position he has held since August 25, 2022.

AVM Ahmed garnered significant attention during a recent conflict between Pakistan and India for his bold and sarcastic remarks against the adversary. He participated in a press briefing alongside Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), which was held on a Sunday evening.

Commissioned into the General Duties (Pilot) Branch of the PAF in December 1992, AVM Ahmed has held various command roles, including leading a fighter squadron and an operational air base. He has also served as the Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Operational Requirements & Development) at Air Headquarters in Islamabad.

AVM Ahmed holds master’s degrees in Military Arts from China and in National Security & War Studies from the National Defence University in Islamabad. He has also been a faculty member and directing staff at the National Defence University and has led the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex team as a contingent commander in Saudi Arabia.

In the PAF, the rank of Air Vice Marshal Aurangzeb Ahmed is a two-star rank, equivalent to a Major General in the Pakistan Army and a Rear Admiral in the Pakistan Navy. Officers holding this rank are responsible for key command and staff roles, including leading air bases, regional air commands, or critical operational and technical departments. They are seasoned leaders with extensive military experience and proven leadership skills.
