Who is Chief Air Marshal Amr Preet Singh? Modi Government Questions Sikh Officer's Loyalty
Following a military setback, the Modi administration has reportedly questioned the loyalty of Indian Air Force Chief Air Marshal Amr Preet Singh, who is of Sikh faith.
During a high-level confidential meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and top military leadership, Air Chief Amr Preet Singh was accused of undermining the Indian Air Force’s performance during recent operations against Pakistan.
According to leaked information from internal sources, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval mockingly asked the Air Chief, “Did you serve India honestly in this war?”
In response, Air Chief Marshal Amr Preet Singh replied, “I am serving India according to my Sikh faith.”
This exchange highlights growing internal mistrust within the Indian military ranks, particularly concerning Sikh officers and soldiers.
Just as India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri is facing threats for playing a role in a ceasefire agreement, Air Chief Amr Preet Singh is also reportedly receiving threats from right-wing Hindutva groups. These groups are blaming him for the loss of Rafale jets during combat operations.
Sikh Soldiers Facing Court Martial
Over 300 Sikh soldiers are currently under surveillance by Indian military intelligence. An internal investigation is underway regarding their activities following the Pahalgam attack, and many could potentially face court martial in the future.
Previously, the pro-Khalistan group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) had urged Sikh soldiers to refrain from participating in combat against Pakistan.
