Two Teenagers Arrested After Fatal Hit-and-Run Kills 19-Year-Old in Leeds

A 19-year-old pedestrian was killed in a tragic hit-and-run on Thursday night in Leeds. The crash happened around 10:09 PM near Leeds Urban Bike Park in the Beeston Park area.

According to West Yorkshire Police, a red Ford Focus turned left from Bodmin Approach onto the ring road and hit the young man as he crossed the road. The car did not stop and sped away from the scene.

Emergency services rushed to the spot, but sadly, the teenager was pronounced dead at the roadside. Officers said the victim suffered serious injuries. One of his feet was found 50 metres away from where his body was discovered.

Two Teenagers in Custody

The police have arrested two males, aged 15 and 19, on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. The red Ford Focus involved in the crash has been recovered from a nearby street.

As of Friday morning, the suspects remain in custody as investigations continue. Police have closed parts of the road while their Major Collision and Enquiry Team (MCET) gathers evidence.

Police Appeal for Witnesses and Footage

Detective James Entwistle from the MCET said:

“This is a very serious case. A young man has lost his life in a truly tragic way. We are doing everything we can to support his family during this devastating time.”

“We are appealing to the public for help. If you have CCTV, dashcam, or phone footage of the collision or saw the car before the crash, please come forward.”

Similar Case Earlier This Year

This is not the first time teenagers have been involved in fatal crashes. Earlier this year, two teens were arrested in North London after a woman in her 60s was killed in another hit-and-run. That crash happened near Grahame Park Way, and it was witnessed by several schoolchildren.
