Florida Teacher Brooke Anderson arrested over inappropriate relationship with student

A teacher in Florida has been arrested following allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Brooke Anderson, 27, was taken into custody by Hillsborough County authorities on Friday after reports emerged about her behavior at Riverview High School. A tip received by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office on May 16 prompted an investigation into Anderson’s conduct.

Officials stated that the student alleged the teacher had been communicating inappropriately with him since September of last year. In recent weeks, the relationship reportedly escalated, leading to a serious breach of professional conduct.

Authorities claim that the most recent incident occurred on the morning of May 16 inside a classroom before school hours. Following the investigation, Anderson was charged with three counts of unlawful contact with a minor.

Sheriff Chad Chronister commented:

“This teacher betrayed the trust of a student, a school, and an entire community. What should have been a safe, supportive environment for learning was exploited.”

Under Florida law, unlawful interaction between an adult over 24 and a 16- or 17-year-old is a serious offense. If convicted, penalties can include up to 15 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Offenders may also be required to register on the state’s sex offender registry.

As of late 2024, Florida had more than 86,000 registered offenders, with over 30,000 living in residential communities.
