Youm-e-Takbeer Public Holiday; Public holiday announced on May 28

Pakistan Stock Exchange to Remain Closed on May 28 for Youm-e-Takbeer
The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has issued a notice announcing that the market will remain closed on May 28, 2025 (Tuesday), in observance of Youm-e-Takbeer, which is expected to be a public holiday.
According to the official notice by Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited, the closure is being scheduled due to an anticipated public holiday declared by the government for Youm-e-Takbeer – the day commemorating Pakistan’s nuclear tests conducted on May 28, 1998.
“Due to the expected public holiday on Youm-e-Takbeer, the Pakistan Stock Exchange will remain closed on Tuesday, May 28, 2025,” the notice stated.
However, no official notification regarding the public holiday from the government has been issued as of now, raising some uncertainty among investors and market participants.
Youm-e-Takbeer is annually observed in Pakistan to honor the country’s achievement of becoming a nuclear power, and it is traditionally marked by public events and official statements.
The stock exchange is expected to resume normal operations on Wednesday, May 29, provided no further changes are announced.

Youm-e-Takbeer is observed annually to mark the successful nuclear tests carried out by Pakistan on May 28, 1998, in the Chaghi hills of Balochistan.
The tests not only established Pakistan as the world’s seventh nuclear-armed state but also the first Muslim-majority country to acquire nuclear capability, aimed at maintaining strategic deterrence in the region.
