Rowdy Drinker Wrestled to Ground After Assaulting Police Officer Outside London Bar

London, UK – A woman was taken to the ground and arrested by police officers outside Waxy’s Little Sister, an Irish bar on Wardour Street in Leicester Square, after she interfered with police and struck a female officer during a Saturday night incident.

The woman, dressed in a white outfit, had repeatedly returned to the scene despite being asked to leave multiple times while police were dealing with a suspected pickpocket who had been ejected from a nearby pub.

Incident Captured on Video

Footage of the confrontation, which has since circulated on social media, shows the agitated woman confronting a female officer, getting in her face before appearing to strike her in the chest.

In response, the officer grabs her by the neck and wrestles her to the ground, with assistance from two other officers. One officer helps restrain her, while another handcuffs her hands behind her back, holding her face-down on the pavement.

Police Statement and Outcome

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed the arrest and stated that the woman was taken into custody, where she later accepted a caution for assaulting and obstructing a police officer.

The Directorate of Professional Standards (DPS) conducted a fast-track review of the video footage and body-worn camera recordings. They concluded: “The officers acted appropriately and no disciplinary matters were identified.”

A spokesperson for Waxy’s Little Sister clarified that the incident did not involve their patrons:

“The police were there apprehending a bag thief. A drinker who was not a guest in our venue then caused the issue seen on video.

It happened outside our premises but was nothing to do with anyone from our venue.”
