Former Arkansas Teacher Reagan Gray Gets Probation for Assault Case Linked to Church Where Bill Clinton Once Attended

LITTLE ROCK, AR – A former teacher has been sentenced to six years of probation after admitting to inappropriate behavior with a teenage boy she met at a well-known church in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Reagan Gray, now 27, pleaded guilty to second-degree assault on Monday. She first met the 15-year-old boy in 2020 at Immanuel Baptist Church, a church once attended by former President Bill Clinton. Gray was 23 years old at the time and volunteered with the church’s student ministry.

Authorities said the inappropriate behavior happened multiple times in Gray’s car and at her apartment. The boy later told investigators that Gray avoided further physical contact, saying he should “stay pure,” according to official court documents.

How the Case Unfolded

The case came to light when the boy’s parents found messages between Gray and their son, including photos. They reported it to the church’s then-pastor, Steven Smith, who questioned Gray. She denied that anything serious had happened, and the church asked her to attend counseling. She agreed but later returned to work with the youth group.

In early 2024, federal investigators learned that Gray had continued to message the teen using Snapchat. That sparked a deeper investigation and led to her arrest.

Gray was charged with first- and fourth-degree assault in 2024 but later accepted a plea deal for second-degree charges. Along with probation, she must pay a $1,000 fine, give a DNA sample, and register as a s*x offender. She is banned from having contact with the victim.

Job Loss and Church Fallout

Gray lost her job at Sylvan Hills Middle School after the case surfaced. She also used to work at Little Rock Christian Academy during the time the behavior started.

The controversy also led to the resignation of Pastor Steven Smith in 2024.
