YouTuber Hassan Iqbal Chishti Arrested in Faisalabad

Faisalabad, Pakistan – The Punjab Police on Tuesday arrested controversial YouTuber Hassan Iqbal Chishti in Faisalabad after a public outcry over his derogatory and offensive content targeting girls’ education. Following his arrest, all videos were removed from his YouTube channel.

Hassan Chishti came under fire last year after releasing a controversial song titled “Othay Dance Kardi Pai Ae”, which insinuated that girls engage in immoral activities under the guise of going to school. The song received widespread criticism for being misogynistic and misleading.

Despite the backlash, Chishti continued to release similar songs in which he criticized the idea of sending girls to school and even mocked men who educate their daughters. His videos frequently promoted anti-women sentiments, leading to repeated sharing and sharp criticism on social media.

Strong Public and Legal Reaction

Social media users demanded legal action against Chishti, calling his content anti-women, disrespectful, and dangerous for society. Several users tagged officials and rights organizations, urging them to act against him.

According to authorities, multiple complaints were filed against Chishti for spreading hate and misinformation against women’s education. In July 2024, the Punjab Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW) filed an official complaint against one of his videos, which prompted the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to begin a digital investigation into his online content.

Significant Step Toward Accountability

Officials stated that his arrest marks a major step in holding individuals accountable for spreading hate speech and inciting discrimination online. It also sends a clear message that attacks on women’s rights and education will not be tolerated.

The case is now under further investigation, and authorities have not ruled out additional charges based on recovered digital evidence.
