Flight attendant’s Nina Vida TikTok post goes viral as she shares handwritten note from Meghan Markle

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, made a sweet gesture to the American Airlines cabin crew during a recent flight. The news broke on Friday, May 17, 2025, when a flight attendant posted a heartfelt TikTok video describing the encounter. The crew was thrilled by Meghan’s kindness and her handwritten message.

Nina Vida, a flight attendant with American Airlines based in New York, shared the story on her TikTok account. Wearing her cabin crew uniform, she excitedly told her followers, “You guys will not believe who I just had on my flight – the Duchess of Sussex, THE Meghan Markle!”

According to Nina, the cabin crew had written Meghan a warm note when she boarded the plane. Their message said, “It’s a pleasure serving you. We love you real bad,” signed from the “AA girlies.” The team did not expect a reply. But to their delight, Meghan responded in a beautiful handwritten note on a napkin.

The message read:
“Dear AA girlies, thank you for the love, hospitality and handwritten note – you know me well. All love right back to you. As ever, Meghan.”

The phrase “As ever” has become Meghan’s signature sign-off in recent months and is linked to her new lifestyle brand, As Ever.

Nina proudly showed Meghan’s note in her video. She admired the handwriting, saying it looked “rich” and “expensive.” She also mentioned how Meghan complimented her nails, even though the flight captain thought they were a bit bold.

This is not the first time Meghan has used handwritten notes to connect with others. Earlier this year, she sent a personal note to podcaster Amanda Hirsch, who had been critical of her Netflix show With Love, Meghan. The letter told Amanda not to be scared and encouraged her to enjoy the experience. Amanda later called herself a lifelong fan of Meghan.

While Meghan and Prince Harry are known for traveling by private jet, they sometimes choose commercial flights. For example, in 2023, Prince Harry flew American Airlines to attend King Charles’ coronation. Recently, Meghan also made a public appearance at the 2025 TIME100 Summit in New York and attended a Broadway show.

The exact date of the recent flight isn’t confirmed, but it’s believed to have happened during one of Meghan’s trips to New York. PEOPLE Magazine also reported that the couple recently took a spring break holiday with their children, Archie and Lilibet, to celebrate the success of Meghan’s business ventures.

Meghan’s handwriting, often admired for its elegance, has also drawn mixed reactions. Expert graphologist Tracey Trussell said her writing shows discipline but might also suggest a desire to maintain a polished image. Trussell described it as “style over substance,” saying it may hide deeper insecurities.

Still, Meghan continues to use personal touches to build a relatable public image. Her latest Instagram post for her seventh wedding anniversary included a family photo collage and handwritten lyrics of Stand by Me, the song played at her wedding.

Fans noticed the beautiful visuals but also pointed out that Prince Harry’s name wasn’t directly mentioned in the caption. Critics called this a missed opportunity, while others praised the artistic tribute to their love story.

Meghan’s recent efforts appear to be part of a broader strategy to improve her public image. Marketing experts say these personal touches are designed to generate positive headlines, especially after the mixed reviews of her Netflix series.

Whether calculated or genuine, Meghan’s handwritten note to the American Airlines crew shows her ability to make small moments meaningful. And for the “AA girlies,” it was a flight they’ll never forget.
