NOTTINGHAMSHIRE — A tragic car crash late night has claimed the lives of three young men in a devastating collision on Cotgrave Road, Nottinghamshire.
The accident happened around 11pm. Police confirmed that the 23-year-old driver and two passengers, aged 19 and 21, died at the scene. All three were in the same car.
Arrests and Investigations
In the second car involved, police arrested the 26-year-old driver and his passenger on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. The driver was also rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police believe speeding may have been a factor. The speed limit on Cotgrave Road is 40 mph.
Local Reaction
A local business owner told Metro that while the crash didn’t directly affect his business, it shocked the community.
“There’s been some minor bumps on that road before,” he said. “But never anything this serious. I think speed might have been involved.”
Police Statement
Sergeant Mark Baker, who is leading the case, said a full and thorough investigation is underway.
“Three men have tragically lost their lives,” he said. “Our thoughts are with their families and friends at this incredibly difficult time. We will support the victims’ loved ones through specially trained officers.”
