In a deeply disturbing turn of events, 17-year-old TikTok sensation Sana Yousuf was shot dead inside her home in Islamabad’s Sector G-13/1 on Monday evening. The cold-blooded murder has sent shockwaves throughout Pakistan, especially among social media communities and women’s rights advocates.
Suspect Arrested in Faisalabad
The Islamabad Police confirmed the arrest of the suspect, Umar Hayat, also known by his nickname “Kaka”, in Faisalabad just 20 hours after the murder. He is also believed to be a TikToker and reportedly claimed to be Sana’s friend.
According to IG Islamabad Ali Nasir Rizvi, the swift arrest was the result of intense surveillance operations involving:

7 police teams
Over 300 phone call analyses
Mobile data tracking
Hayat was tracked through security footage, which showed him walking away from the crime scene while typing on his phone, before eventually fleeing via motorway.
Details of the Tragic Day
Sana was at home with her aunt at the time of the incident. Her father, a government officer, was at work, her mother was at the market, and her 15-year-old brother was in Chitral after completing exams.
The aunt told police that Hayat had come to the house to meet Sana. Before the shooting, Sana was heard saying: “Go away from here. There are cameras all around. I will fetch you some water.”
Moments later, she was shot twice in the chest. Her body was transported to PIMS Hospital for postmortem.
Police Statement & Investigation
The murder weapon and the clothes worn by the suspect have been recovered. The suspect confessed to the killing during interrogation, although the exact motive remains under investigation.
The FIR was lodged by Sana’s mother at Sumbal Police Station under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code, and she stated she could identify the suspect on sight.
