‘I Ask for Justice for My Daughter’: Father of TikToker Sana Yousuf Urges Government to Punish Killer

Father of TikToker Sana Yousuf, Anwar-ul-Haq, has made a public appeal for justice in the wake of his daughter’s killing.

According to initial reports, Sana was fatally shot by a man identified as Umar Hayat, also known as “Kaka.” The suspect allegedly broke into her residence in Islamabad and shot her twice in the chest before fleeing the scene. Authorities confirmed that Hayat was arrested on June 3 in Faisalabad.

During interrogation, the suspect claimed to be a friend of the victim. However, Islamabad Inspector General Ali Nasir Rizvi revealed that Hayat had attempted to initiate a relationship with Sana, which she consistently rejected. Investigators believe this rejection led the suspect to commit the murder.

Sana Yousuf, originally from the village of Chuinj in Upper Chitral, was the daughter of Anwar-ul-Haq, a well-known social worker and leader in the “Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz Huqooq-e-Chitral,” who is widely respected for his activism. In a video message released during the ongoing investigation, her father expressed his grief and demanded swift justice.

“This incident was completely unexpected,” said Anwar-ul-Haq. “I had no enmity or conflict with anyone—it was a sudden and heartbreaking tragedy.”

Appealing to the government, he added, “The perpetrator must be brought to justice. It is the responsibility of the authorities to ensure he is held accountable. I ask for justice for my daughter.”

Highlighting the peaceful nature of his community, he further stated, “I belong to Chitral, and everyone knows how peaceful the people of Chitral are. We avoid conflicts and do not seek violence.”

The murder of Sana Yousuf has ignited a national conversation about violence against women and the safety of public figures, especially on social media platforms. As the investigation continues, the public closely watches the legal proceedings, calling for the strictest punishment for the accused.
