Habibur Masum Admits to Killing Wife Kulsuma Akter as She Pushed Baby in Pram in Bradford

05 June, 2025 15:43

A man has admitted to killing his wife, Kulsuma Akter, as she pushed their baby in a pram through a busy Bradford street. The tragic incident happened in April last year on Wigan Street.

Kulsuma, 27, originally from Bangladesh, had moved to the UK to be with her husband, Habibur Masum. On the day of the attack, she was pushing a pram with her baby—who was unharmed—when she was stabbed multiple times.

Masum, 25, a YouTuber from Burnley, has pleaded guilty to manslaughter but denies murder. He is currently on trial at Bradford Crown Court. In addition to the manslaughter charge, he faces two counts of assault by beating and one count of stalking.

The court heard that Masum had allegedly tracked Kulsuma’s location and found her at a safe house. He reportedly sent threatening messages, including photos and videos of the area she was staying in. He also loitered near her residence, causing her distress and fear for her life.

After the attack, Kulsuma was rushed to the hospital but sadly died from her injuries. Masum was arrested two days later in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire—about 170 miles away from the scene of the crime.

Kulsuma’s mother, Monwara Begum, spoke out after her daughter’s death.
“I am in shock. She was my youngest daughter and I adored her greatly. She used to call me every day on video. The only day she didn’t call was the day she was attacked,” she said.

The court also heard that the charges of assault and threats to kill are related to events from November 2023. Prosecutors claim he made Kulsuma feel unsafe, causing her alarm and fear of violence.

The trial continues, and the court will determine whether Masum will be found guilty of murder.
