Country music artist Conner Smith, 24, was involved in a tragic accident on June 8 that resulted in the death of Dorothy Dobbins, a 77-year-old woman in Nashville, Tennessee.
According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m., when Dobbins was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk while walking her dog. She was struck by a vehicle driven by Smith and was immediately transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries.
Police Statement and Investigation
Authorities stated that Smith showed “no signs of impairment”, and no charges have been filed at this time. The preliminary investigation indicates that Smith appeared to yield the right of way but still collided with the pedestrian.
Smith’s legal team issued a statement confirming his involvement: “Mr. Smith was involved in a car accident that tragically claimed a life. His heart goes out to Ms. Dobbins’ family during this incredibly difficult time. He continues to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation.”
