Student stabs teaching assistant to death at French school

On Tuesday, June 10, 2025, a terrible event happened at a school near Paris. A 15-year-old student attacked and killed a teaching assistant. This happened at the Francoise Dolto School in Nogent.

The attack took place just before morning classes. Staff were checking student bags at the entrance. Suddenly, the student stabbed the assistant many times with a knife. The victim was a 31-year-old woman. Police have not shared her name yet.

She suffered several serious knife wounds. Doctors tried to save her, but she died from her injuries. The young attacker was caught right there at the school.

A police officer helping with the bag checks got slightly hurt. This happened while officers arrested the student. The officer’s injuries were minor.

French President Emmanuel Macron spoke about the tragedy. He posted a message on social media. He said the nation feels deep sadness. He called the killing “senseless violence.” Macron promised the government will work harder to stop such crimes.

Deadly school attacks are unusual in France. But worries about violence in schools are growing. To help stop this, the Education Ministry began bag searches this year.

These searches found dangerous items. Between March and April 2025, officials took 186 knives from students. Police also arrested 32 people during these checks. The government shared these numbers on Tuesday.

Earlier this year, another school stabbing shocked France. In April, a student attacked four others in western France. One student died. Three others got hurt. Police arrested the attacker at that school too.
