What Is an Amber Alert?
An Amber Alert is a special system used when a child is kidnapped and believed to be in serious danger. The system spreads alerts quickly through phones, TV, radio, and highway signs to help find the child fast.
The alert system began in 1996 after the abduction and murder of Amber Hagerman in Texas. It is now used in all 50 U.S. states.
Community on High Alert
The New Castle County Police Department and the Delaware State Police are working together. They have also asked for help from neighboring states.
Residents are being urged to stay alert and report any suspicious vehicles or persons matching the description.
