Who is Ayesha Sharafat? FIR filed against YouTuber Rajab Butt over r*pe allegations

A first information report (FIR) has been filed at Lahore’s Nawab Town police station against YouTuber Rajab Butt, his cousin Salman Haider, and several others. The case includes serious accusations of rape, blackmail, and illegal confinement.

The complaint was made by social media activist Ayesha Sharafat. She said that she became friends with Salman Haider through social media, and everything remained normal until August 16, 2024.

According to Ayesha, Salman invited her to his home in Bahria Orchard under the excuse of a friendly meeting. “Salman called me around 7pm and asked me to visit him. I trusted him and agreed,” she wrote in her statement. But when she arrived, she said he gave her juice that was mixed with something intoxicating.

“After drinking it, I lost consciousness. When I woke up, I found my shirt buttons open and realised I had been sexually assaulted,” Ayesha claimed.

At first, she kept quiet due to fear of society. But later, she said Salman started blackmailing her with a private video he secretly recorded without her permission. The video was also sent to her sister.

Ayesha and her sister Palwasha then went to confront Salman at his home. But, according to the FIR, they were met by Salman, Rajab Butt, and others including Maan Dogar, Jawad Haider, and Jahangir Butt.

“They locked us inside a room, took our phones, reset them, and threatened us before forcing us out,” Ayesha alleged.

The FIR names Salman Haider as the main accused, with Rajab Butt and others listed as partners in the crime. The police have registered a case under charges of rape, blackmail, criminal intimidation, and unlawful confinement. An investigation is now underway.
