Ahmedabad Plane Crash: London-Bound Air India Flight Crashes Near Airport

Ahmedabad – Thursday, June 12, 2025 – A major aviation accident took place near the Ahmedabad airport when anAir India flight bound for London crashed shortly after takeoff. The tragic incident has shocked the city, with reports indicating that around 130 passengers were on board.

The aircraft was departing from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport when it lost control near the Meghaninagar area, close to Dharpur. Heavy black smoke was seen rising from the crash site, causing panic in the surrounding neighborhoods.

Local residents were the first to report the blast and smoke. Within minutes, firefighters and rescue teams reached the area. The Ahmedabad fire brigade is actively working to douse the flames and recover victims. Medical emergency services have also been deployed to handle possible injuries.

So far, the exact cause of the crash has not been officially confirmed. Initial sources suggest that a technical fault may have triggered the crash, but investigations are ongoing. Civil Aviation authorities are expected to issue a statement soon.

Eyewitnesses said they heard a loud explosion moments after the plane took off. “We saw the aircraft tilting oddly and then there was a blast,” said a local shopkeeper near Meghaninagar.

As of now, the number of casualties or survivors has not been announced. Rescue operations are still in progress. More information will be shared as it becomes available.

This tragic event has raised new concerns about air safety standards in India. The government is likely to launch a thorough inquiry to understand what went wrong and how such incidents can be prevented in the future.
