Ngone Ndiaye, a popular Instagram model originally from Senegal but living in France, has tragically passed away after undergoing a corrective Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) surgery in Turkey. The news of her death was confirmed on Monday, June 9, 2025.
Ngone travelled to Turkey in hopes of fixing complications from a previous BBL procedure. Her family became worried after they suddenly lost contact with her during the trip. Her mother later confirmed that she had died as a result of the surgery.
BBL is a high-risk cosmetic procedure that involves transferring fat from one area of the body to the buttocks to enhance their shape and size. In some cases, surgeons may also use fillers or silicone implants. The procedure is known for having the highest death rate among cosmetic surgeries due to risks such as fat embolism, which can block lung blood vessels and be fatal.
Ngone had nearly 100,000 followers on Instagram and was admired for her fashion content and modeling work. She was also crowned Miss Pikine in 2008, representing her hometown in Senegal, and had participated in various cultural and fashion events.
Her body has been returned to Senegal, where her grieving family and friends are mourning her loss.
The popularity of BBL procedures continues to rise, especially in the UK, despite warnings from health professionals. The NHS has raised alarms about the dangers of low-cost overseas cosmetic surgeries. Many foreign clinics offer heavily discounted packages that include accommodation and travel for as little as £3,000, making them attractive but risky options.
Ngone’s case is one of several recent incidents involving fatal outcomes from BBL surgeries. A British woman named Hayley Dowell also died after a BBL procedure in Turkey, where it was reported that the surgeon left halfway through her operation. In another case in the U.S., a woman died after her surgeon punctured multiple organs during a fat transfer.
These tragic cases highlight the serious risks involved in BBL surgeries and the importance of informed decision-making when it comes to cosmetic procedures.
